  Retired member Frank Dempster passed away - Firefighters formed the Honour Guard.
  Fire Prevention Week October 8 - 14 - Watch what you heat, Prevent cooking fires!

  Long time member Bill Lowery passed, ceremony held October 14.

News for September 2006 - 34 calls for the month
•  We will never forget 9/11
•  Night Watchman discovers small fire in wall of Planer Mill averting catastrophe.

•  Fire in basement of house under construction quickly snuffed.
•  Call for a noxious smell turns out to be bear spray.
•  Wasp nest caused more trouble when owner tried to burn them out.
•  Faulty Hydro neutral causes multiple fires in meter rooms.
•  Shed fire in West Quesnel of suspicious origin.

 News for August 2006 -   39 calls for the month
•  Twin engine Cessna 414 makes safe landing after hydraulic failure.

•  Bush Fire in inaccessible area of West Quesnel had great potential to spread to large fire. Public works crew assisted in extinguishment with heavy equipment.
•  Crews assist Barlow Creek along with Ten Mile VFD in fire that destroyed local sawmill.

 News for July 2006 -   42 calls for the month
•  Fire in furniture store at West Park Mall contained by fire sprinklers. Smoke damage to surrounding stores is extensive.

 News for June 2006 -   42 calls for the month
•  Garage fire in Red Bluff spreads to house, burning the attic and roof off the house. Crews save remainder of home and belongings.
•  Log Loader fire ignites fire in log deck. Quick action by crews and workers stop fire from spreading. Over $4 million in logs at risk were saved. 

 News for May 2006 -   30 calls for the month
•  Loader/compactor destroyed by fire at City Landfill. This is the second loader to burn at the Landfill, two years to the day the first loader was destroyed.
 • Large Bush Fire may have saved trailers. Fire Crews were just clearing a Bush Fire in Red Bluff when a call was received for a vehicle fire far South of town. Crews arrived to find a fully involved truck and camper and the vinyl siding burning on two trailers. The fire was quickly knocked down and both trailers suffered minimal damage.

• Grass fire season has begun. Please be careful.
• West Fraser Planer mill fire quickly extinguished.
• Chlorine leak causes evacuation of Rec Centre


 News for March 2006 -  21 calls for the month
• MDF Plant keeps fire crews busy this month.
• Structure fire in Red Bluff confined to attic.


 News for February 2006 -  15 calls for the month
• Fire Sprinklers extinguish fire in sprinkler control room. Dust from sawmill operations ignited by heater was quickly doused by fire sprinklers.
• Dust from MDF Plant ignited by spark, spread to exterior wall before being noticed.
 

 News for January 2006 -  30 calls for the month

Please visit http://www.city.quesnel.bc.ca/firehall/recruitment.html and download an application and drop it off to us at 310 Kinchant Street downtown. Application deadline is February 20.
• Medical First Responder calls increase dramatically as BCAS crews kept busy.
• Trailer fire sends one man to hospital in serious condition, the trailer was gutted by the fire.
• Kitchen Fire sends one man to hospital with burns to hands and feet. Fire contained to kitchen area.
• Community Wildfire Protection Planning initiated.
